Elbony Isambard pups Schooling

The first pups from Elbony Isambards first 2 litters have begun schooling.  Brad was extremely pleased with the results.....out of a total of 7 races, Elbony Isambard's pups won 4 of them.

The pup that he is most excited about is called "Detour" from the Dainty Wag litter.  He ran a very fast 24.87 over the quarter-mile and looks to be an impressive pup.  He already looks like a racedog and flattens out on the backstretch pulling away from his competitors.  The other male that was schooled was "Freight" which ran a nice 25.37 for his first time over the quarter.

"Lilly", the female from the Move On Bev litter explodes from the box to win her race over the full distance....she ran a great time (32.48) considering this is one of her first times around the track.  The pup that schooled immediately before her is about to leave for the racetrack (Gulf Greyhound) and ran a 32.49 in comparison.

Brad is very pleased with how aggressive the pups are....hitting the lure at the end of the race.  He says that his males are powerful and his girls are big.  Detour is so fired up to run, that he is tough to even handle on the track.

Elbony Isambard - New breeding

Circuit Braker has come in season and is being bred to Elbony Isambard this week:

If you are not familiar with these bloodlines, they are very similar to Atascocita Smoke who was the Great Greyhound Futurity winner this year.  His dam, Rewind Sammy (Molotov - Santa Fe Grace) is by the same dam as Circuit Braker.  Santa Fe Grace is an outstanding producing damline and is littersister to the successful stud, Santa Fe Rufus.

Elbony Isambard Pups

Found out today that Elbony Isambard's litter out of Spring Garden (Shanless Slippy - Wise Beauty) produced 3 nice males on October 26th.  When I hear more about the pups, I'll be sure to post.

Here is a beautiful pup in Elbony Isambards litter by Dr Tornado (Evening Memory - Cajun Black Bird).  These pups were whelped January 29, 2005.

Just received news that Oban Sirine (Malawis Prince - Greys Front Page) has whelped her litter of pups by Elbony Isambard (Some Picture - Elbony Violet).  There are 6 boys and 1 girl and they are big and beautiful!

These pups are one of a kind.  We are not sure if there is another litter out of a Malawi's Prince female anywhere in the world with Some Picture bloodlines:

One of the boys is blue, and the rest is a mixed bag of brindle and blacks.  The female is black.

Sirine settled into motherhood well.  She didn't want anybody else to help her and is feeding her pups well.  She doesn't like to leave them long, and Tracy has to prod her to go outside and take a potty.

We will get the breakdown of colors once they make it through their first 3 days.

Elbony Isambard was a big boy himself, and we are looking forward to this litter.

"Jordan" (Elbony Isambard - Dainty Wag) showed some serious speed her first time in the field, cruising back the two other hounds she was training with.  Brad was very pleased how she ran and looks forward to training the rest of this litter.

Jordan earned her kennel name when she was brought into the kennel in crate #23, which is Michael Jordan's number.

Let's hope she "slam dunks" her competition!

The other 2 Elbony Isambard x Move on Bev pups have been worked in the field and are getting ready to step onto the training track for the first time.  Will keep you posted.

Oban Sirine is bred!

We are pleased to announce that Oban Sirine looks bred to Elbony Isabmard!  This is a breeding that has been anticipated for many years. 

We purchased Greys Front Page (Evening Memory – Greys Jasmine) from Greymeadows Kennel when they dominated the racetracks.  Front Page was a very nice Grade A racer at Southland (West Memphis, Arkansas) for Greymeadow Kennel and injured her shoulder early in her career.  It didn’t keep her from showing her ability on the track and when she was retired, Mary Butler phoned us up to sell her.  We bought her for $10,000, but knew that this was going to be worth every penny in terms of contribution to our breeding program.

She is a nice big bitch (70lbs) and had the personally of a “boy.”  She needed some time to mature and be ready for her breeding career.  She also had a thyroid condition which is quite common in greyhounds, but was inhibiting her natural “season” so she could be bred.  We found that as soon as she was put on thyroid medication to balance her, she came right into season.  This was a year and a half after we brought her home from the track….and we were growing quite impatient.

Fortunately, I am friends with Brent Meurer (Ashford Farms, Inc.) who at that time imported the top sires from Australia including Head Honcho, Malawis Prince, Awesome Assassin, and Asshiga.  We chose Head Honcho as he was the top sire in Australia at the time.  Front Page was bred at KB’s Greyhound Farm in Thorndale, Texas, using frozen implant.  Unfortunately, she missed her breeding and we had to wait another year before we could try her once again.  We were disappointed, but still were determined to breed her. 

Her next breeding was to Malawis Prince who is known as the sire of sires (and now sire of dams!) in Australia.  He produced Token Prince, Placard, Prince of Tigers, Toolibuk, Trewking, etc.  Front Page whelped a nice size litter of 7 pups, but she wasn’t warming up to the pups and actually laid on quite a few of them as she was such a big female.  We ended up with 3 survivors in the litter (1 dog and 2 bitches). One of the bitches, Oban Talona, had a problem with her hips when she was younger, but made it through training and actually tried racing at the track.  We ended up adopting her into a loving home as she wasn’t going to make the grade at Corpus.  Her litterbrother, Oban Darkmantle, wasn’t a gifted racer himself and he was adopted as well.  But Oban Sirine raced her heart out for our kennel and we knew she would come home and be the Greymeadows legacy for Stonehaven.  Her record is:  82 starts--14-14-6-8

Sirine is a beautiful 65lb. black bitch that has a very sweet personality.  Brad really loves her in the kennel and we look forward to seeing the pups from the Elbony Isambard mating.  We think that these bloodlines are some of the best in the world:

Already a producer of some very nice pups by Hey Zapper, Bad Girl really throws raw aggression in the pups.  This should be a very nice litter.
