Racing cancelled

Racing has been cancelled this evening in south Florida because of hurricane "Katrina".  From the Rosnet website (this is the site where you watch live racing):

Flagler Greyhound Track cancelled its evening performance due to hurricane Katrina. Palm Beach announces it's closing on Friday matinee and evening August 26th due to bad weather however, racing resumes on Saturday august 27th.

Note: our Rosnet office is in the path of TS/Hurricane "Katrina". Therefore, our site may go down. IN order to protect satellite and internet equipment, please be patient. We will keep you notified. Further racing cancellations in south Florida are expected. Thank you and good luck.

We are quite proud of "Easter" (Oban Eachann) and her pursuit of the winner in her last race.  She was only beaten 3/4 of a length and was really coming home.  We think she will make it into Grade A without a problem.  Her next start is out of box 8 again, so maybe she will break a bit better and catch the leaders!

Racing Entries - 8/24

Just received news this morning that Oban Coira is off for a while with a broken toe at Palm Beach.  Fortunately it is an outside toe, which means it can be removed and she will be able to recover to race once again.  She will probably be off for about 2 months (depending on her recovery).  We will keep you posted.

Jinxed myself...

Well, ask anybody in this business and they'll tell you the fastest way to lose a race is to get excited and look forward to it!  Oban Eachann ran out of the 8 box tonight, but didn't break real sharp.  She did rush the turn well and cleared it in 3rd place.  In the backstretch, the battled for 2nd and was coming for the leader, the #4 which is a Wayne Ward pup.   She was only beat by a length and was first at the pickup.  I think this girl will go the distance eventually, but only the trainers will know for sure!

Through Betsy surprised us all tonight by pulling off a nice win in Grade C for Phil Rubins at Flagler!  She came from off of the lead to win this one and make it into Grade B.  Congrats Phil!

Also, I cannot forget to congratulate "Star" or better known as "Cassidys Comet" that was in her first schooling race back from a long time off resting.  We are happy that she finished 2nd in her schooling and looked like her old self again!  Eric Hammel was happy to report that she was back to her old ways of "diving under dogs to the rail" and "powering home real strong."  Those are words that all of us like to hear after a race.  Good luck, Star!

Whistler's Wind ran a real nice Maiden race at Wheeling.  We are pretty proud of her as her dam, Elbony Flight was owned and raced by us in Ireland and Scotland.  We sold her to Larry Birnbaum and this is her first litter.

Pretty shocked that HF's Dreamy Tree didn't win from the 1-hole, but it looks like she didn't get the lead and finished 3rd.  I have noticed that most of the Whistlers from the Dainty Wag litter need some time to mature. I think it is a good thing that these Dreamy Ocean pups are taking their time moving up the grades to get themselves a bit of experience before racing against the "big guns."  Ozzie the Man is pretty intimidating!

Oban Ferguson pulled off a 3rd at Naples yesterday for his first start 
in "many moons."  Unfortunately, the boys didn't receive the gift of speed 
in this litter but the other 9 females are doing pretty well.  "Toechi" 
as he was called on the farm, had a broken toe when he was a young pup but
 always tried hard on the track.

Oban Jaimi always surprises us when she pulls off a win.  She is a tad short herself, 

but has some guts when she wants to.  Problem is, we never know when that's going to be!
